pug portrait

3.31.2009

So last night, MG and I attended a charity silent auction for Pawsitive Alliance. And I bid on a custom pet portrait. Lo and behold, we won. Our downstairs neighbor (who is on Pawsitive Alliance's board) joked that the artist would have to draw a pug and then smear it every which way since Hemi never holds still. And then my coworkers joked that I'm becoming one of those crazy pug people. I told him that the sanity train left the station a while back.

pug a(le)rt

Pug art by dumpr. I think he's a work of art, though he had another seizure last night. MG and I are taking him to the vet for bloodwork tomorrow. Since this is only the second time this year that he's had an episode, we're not all that worried. He just gets so confused and upset when it happens, we'd like to know if there's any reasonable thing to prevent it. Thankfully, after the seizure passes, he's pretty much back to normal (i.e. insane or asleep). The episodes only happen in the middle of the night and last about ten minutes. If'n anybody knows anything about dog issues, lemme know.

pig ear for the pug ear

6.25.2008

Hemi and I just got back from a(n expensive) vet visit. The poor little bugger has an ear infection. And let me tell you, pugs are not the most cooperative little patients. Both the vet techs who showed me how to put the topical medicine onto the infected areas chuckled at the thought of having to administer the medication daily for the next two weeks. But I think it won't be too bad as long as we bribe him with his favorite treat: pig ears. He likes it when we hold his chew toy up for him to gnaw on, so hopefully we'll be able to sneak the medication in while he's happily gnawing away. At least this is slightly less disgusting than his bout of giardia.
